Blepharitis

It's the inflammation of eyelids. Blepharitis usually affects part of the eyelid where eyelashes grow and it can affect both eyelids.

Blepharitis usually occurs when small sebaceous glands near eyelashes got obstructed, leading to eye irritation and redness. Many diseases can lead to blepharitis. Blepharitis is usually a chronic disease and difficult to treat, however, it's neither contagious nor serious

Symptoms of blepharitis:

• Burning.
• Foreign body sensation.
• Conjunctival and lid redness.
• Chalazion.
• Dry discharges, especially in the morning.
• Ichthyosis.

How is blepharitis treated?

Seborrheic dermatitis is treated with safe topical anti-inflammatory drugs prescribed by consultant ophthalmologist according to each case, such as anti-fungal and dry eye medications and some topical creams.
